At mount Athos Only for Men

 Overview :    

The tour begins at 08:30 from Ouranoupoli with the tour gide. Athos is an amazing monastic country, where unceasing prayer for the whole world rises. Mount Athos is a special place, halfway between Heaven and Earth. Over the past 1,300 years, Athos has taken a special position among other countries: the way of life here is not subject to worldly laws. Holy Mountain is under the jurisdiction of the Patriarch of Constantinople, and is part of the Greek state, where the state language is Greek. Today on Mount Athos there are 20 functioning monasteries, which have the status of patriarchal stauropegic (17 Greek, 1 - Russian, 1 - Bulgarian and 1 - Serbian). In addition to the monasteries on the Holy Mountain, there are 12 monasteries, cells, kathismes, and hesychastyria. Totally, about 1,500 monks live on Mount Athos, including the Kelliots and the Scythian inhabitants. Only men can be pilgrims to Athos. The trip to Athos includes visits to five monasteries. From Ouranopolis pilgrims go to Daphne, from where they move to the capital of the monastic state of Karyes, where the main shrine of Athos is located - the icon "Worthy Is" and the oldest temple of the 9th century "Protat". Then we visit the monastery of the Apostle Andrew the First-Called, one of the closest disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, built by Russian monks and benefactors. The next stop is in the Vatopedi monastery, where 7 wonder-working icons are stored, among which is the All-Crescent, which heals from cancer. Here is also the favorite icon of St. Dmitry Rostov "Otrada and Consolation". The main relics of this monastery are the belt of the Most Holy Theotokos. The next place of pilgrimage is the Iver Monastery, where the miraculous Iver icon of the Mother of God is kept, or, as it is also called, the Goalkeeper. There is also a source of the Iberian icon. Our last visit will be the Russian Holy Panteleimon monastery, where the head of the Great Martyr Healer Panteleimon resides.

    Cancellation Policy :

   If you cancel at least 7 days in advance of the schedule departure, there wll be no cancellation fee.   If you cancel between 3 and 6 days, there will be a 50 percent cancellation fee. If you cancel within    two days, there will be a 100 percent cancellation fee
